Joseph M. DeFranco, Esq. is an attorney with GLG who handles first party insurance claims on behalf of insurance companies. During his legal career, he has defended insurance carriers in a variety of matters and has also served as a Plaintiff’s attorney representing individuals in various causes of actions.

Joseph was born in Pensacola, Florida, and is a life-long resident of Florida. Joseph attended Florida State University, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Criminology in 1991. Prior to graduating from Florida State University, Mr. DeFranco served as a Military Policeman in the U.S. Army and was stationed overseas for two and half years in Germany. He received his Juris Doctorate from the Barry University School of Law in 2005.

Joseph worked for over 14 years in the insurance industry as both a claims representative and as a supervisor. During that time, he earned the distinguished Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter designation, as well as the Associate in Claims designation. He is a member of the Florida Bar and is admitted to practice before all Florida courts and the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida and the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida.

Joseph’s diverse experiences provide him with an extraordinarily distinctive outlook toward his work with GLG defending insurance companies.

In his spare time, Joseph enjoys spending quality time with his wife, Terri and their two children, Nolan and Kendall. He also enjoys watching all sports and particularly college football.
